The ASICS GEL-Lyte III is undoubtedly one of the best models ASICS produces. Off the back of its 25th anniversary last year, the shoe has continued its formidable run all through 2016, and now that we're coming into the autumn ASICS has served up a treat. A nice alternative to the Rioja Red iteration that has also arrived is this India Ink/Slight White colourway.
The main portion of the upper is suede in a rich navy blue colour, nicely muted for the autumn months ahead. This has been juxtaposed with a burgundy/red colour around the ankle and heel, which also outlines the white tiger stripes on the lateral and medial sides of the shoe. The perfect finishing touch to the shoe is the solid white midsole and off-white outsole. It's the kind of colourway that on the face of things probably shouldn't work, but ASICS has found a way to make it all fit together oh so perfectly.
GEL technology is of course featured in the midsole, providing unparalleled cushioning under the whole of the foot. The revolutionary split-tongue design seen on the GLIII when it first launched is also still present, removing the annoyance of the tongue slipping to the side, and a small heel counter provides a more locked in, stable fit.
We also have other ASICS styles, including the GEL-Lyte Runner, GEL-Lyte V, GEL Kayano and GEL Saga.
