The ASICS GEL-Lyte III is undoubtedly one of the best models ASICS produces. Off the back of its 25th anniversary last year, the shoe has continued its formidable run all through 2016, and now that we're coming into the autumn ASICS has served up a treat. The GEL-Lyte III has arrived in Rioja Red/Rioja Red, a prominent colour in ASICS' AW16 offerings so far.
The shoe's upper features a host of different materials. At the toebox we see a tough nubuck, providing a nice shade of purple as well as great durability. Around the midfoot and tongue of the shoe we see a brighter shade of purple due to the use of a suede/leather-style material. The only other colours on the shoe are light brown and white, with the former appearing on the rope laces, outline of the tiger stripes, and at the heel, and the latter composing the midsole and outsole.
The GEL-Lyte III has stood the test of time partly due to its great performance features. The GEL cushioned midsole provides great comfort and impact protection under the whole of the foot, and the descending shape of the sole lets you roll off the board of your foot with each step. The heel counter helps to provide a locked in fit, and the split-tongue design removes the annoyance of the tongue slipping to the side of the shoe.
We also have other ASICS styles, including the GEL-Lyte Runner, GEL-Lyte V, GEL Kayano and GEL Saga.
