Swedish skate label Polar Skate Co. has rapidly become a favourite here at Attitude, producing strong seasonal collections that perfectly merge high quality and great graphics with very nice prices. The same can certainly be said for Fall 16, as the brand introduces some incredible outerwear that’ll keep you cozy through the colder months ahead and great designs that’ll have everyone asking where you got your clothes from.
Seeing as we’ll be firmly in Winter’s grip very soon here in England, it makes sense to start with the jackets in the new collection. Scandinavian winters are considerably colder than our own, and that’s evident in the heavy duty jackets that Polar has equipped us with. On the left above is the Thermo Shell Jacket in Black, a quarter-zip pullover that is streamlined to perfection to make it ideal for skating. It features a knitted waterproof layer and polyurethane membrane which combine to offer incredible water and wind resistance, which are backed up by a polyester micro-fleece lining that works to wick sweat from the skin to keep you warm and dry. The zip pockets provide useful storage for your possessions, and the simple black colourway means this jacket will nicely complement just about any outfit you can put together. On the right above, we have the Bomber Jacket in Olive, an item that has seen a style revival in recent years. Polar’s take on the revered jacket features minimal branding, with only a screened Polar text logo on the left of the chest, to let the colourway and quality do the talking. A 100% polyester exterior makes the jacket incredibly resistant against both wind and rain, always ideal for skating in the winter, and a polyester lining improves comfort significantly. Polar has also placed an onus on making the jacket functional, incorporating button closure pockets and an additional zip closure sleeve pocket, as well as a two-way zip closure system. The jacket will also be available in Rust and Black, so there’s an option for everyone.
Moving down a layer, and the Doodle and Default hoodies take centre stage this season. The former, pictured on the left above, features a brand new graphic that we’ve not seen before from Polar. It has been screen printed onto the back of a navy hoodie, which features a 100% cotton construction and brushed inner lining, offering great warmth and comfort. On the chest we see a smaller graphic to add another hit of colour to the relatively dark hoodie, rounding off a very clean pullover overall. The Default Hoodie, on the right above, has returned after appearing in some very clean colourways this year. It’s been given an autumnal Dark Prune colour-up above, with a white Polar text logo embroidered onto the chest. It also features a 100% cotton construction and a brushed lining, making it incredibly comfortable and warm, and also comes in Black this season. Both hoodies feature a raglan sleeve design, which provides excellent freedom of movement and nicely optimises the hoodies for skating.
Longsleeves is another thing that Polar always gets oh so right, and the same can of course be said for Fall 16. On the left above is the Marta’s Roses LS T-shirt in White, which features a 100% cotton construction to make it thick and comfortable. Polar’s instantly recognisable Stroke Logo is featured on the back, and rather than being filled plain, the logo has been given the Roses treatment, in the same style as the “Bengt” deck from last season. On the front, we have Polar text screen printed on in black, to add just the right amount of branding to a very street-style t-shirt on the whole. This also comes in a short sleeve form as well, if you prefer total freedom of movement and breathability. On the right above we have the Pique Zip Neck Longsleeve in Caramel, a colour similar to the Rust Bomber Jacket. It features a 200g pique cotton construction, which makes it incredibly comfortable and warm as well as reasonably breathable. The half-zip design provides a very aerodynamic style, aided by the ribbed wrist and waist cuffs. It is also available in Black if the colour isn’t quite to your taste!
The cohesion in the new collection certainly has to be admired. On the left above we see the Stroke logo t-shirt in Dark Prune, which matches the Default logo hoodie perfectly. It’s been constructed from cotton to make it nice and thick, very ideal for winter to say the least, and the classic Stroke logo has been hollowed out to just a white outline. It’s a simple t-shirt yes, but that’s the beauty of it – you simply cannot go wrong. A new design is present in the form of the Three Faces T-Shirt, pictured on the right above. We saw a Three Faces graphic back in Spring 16, but it’s been given an overhaul this time and been reduced to essentially an outlined graphic on the left of the chest. No back print is featured, making this a simple and accessible t-shirt overall. We’ve got the t-shirts above and many more, expect to see them online and in-store very soon.
Accessories is another of Polar’s strengths, headwear in particular. The brand always produces fresh and exciting hats each season; who knew the 6 panel could be reworked in so many different ways? This season we see the Stroke logo grace the front of three corduroy 6 panel caps, in Golden Brown, Dusty Blue and Dusty Red. Full corduroy constructions make the hats incredibly vivid in colour, and very soft to touch. Enhancing the premium style of the hats aew leather adjustable straps at the back, making these some of the nicest hats we’ve seen in a while. To match the Bomber Jackets, Polar has produced the Bomber Hat, pictured on the right above in Rust, Black and Olive. The hats feature a slightly curved peak and slightly more deconstructed style, to provide a more snug and streamlined fit, and branding has been kept minimal with tonal Polar text featured on the peak of each cap. Canvas straps match the canvas that form the basis for the hats, whilst also making the caps very secure. We’ll also have even more hats, beanies, hip bags and socks launching from Polar.
Everything pictured above, and much more, is available online and at our Ipswich and Colchester locations right now!
