Bronze 56k has had a stellar few years, gaining a cult following with lo-fi skate videos cut with old-school house and rap music that have become the trend of the moment in the skateboarding world. It produces similarly nostalgic apparel, all with a slightly comical touch that has cemented Bronze 56k’s position as one of the hottest skate brands of the moment. That same ethos is present in the label’s Spring ’17 collection, with the coveted B Logo making a welcome return and debut appearances from a variety of new graphics.
It makes sense to start with what will no doubt be the most hyped items in the new collection – the B Logo T-Shirts. On the left above we have the Navy B Logo Logo Longsleeve, with a contrasting white chest logo and back print. One of the cleanest items we’ve seen from Bronze this season, it has been made from 100% cotton, guaranteeing great softness and comfort overall. At the wrists we see ribbed cuffs, which provide a more streamlined fit that is very ideal when skating, and the neckline is also ribbed to reduce friction. The now-famed B Logo, a riff on the classic Windows logo, has been screen printed onto the chest and back, providing instantly-recognisable Bronze style.
The B Logo on the right above comes in Tricolour, with a white 100% cotton t-shirt forming the base. It is again very soft and comfortable, the latter being enhanced further by the ribbed neckline, and on this occasion short sleeves have been incorporated, which improve breathability and freedom of movement. On the chest we see a banana yellow B Logo in a small size, and on the back we see the same logo oversized and in a max orange, with black text underneath muting things to perfection. We’ve also got a white longsleeve with baby blue logos arriving, and a light tan short sleeve with navy logos, so there’s something for everyone. Don’t expect them to hang around for long though!
The NYC skate brand’s tongue-in-cheek humour is no more evident in this collection than in the Zoo and Bronzish T-Shirts, on the left and right above respectively. The former again comes in 100% cotton, making it very soft and comfortable, and features short sleeves to ensure pure freedom of movement and breathability. The neckline is again ribbed to improve comfort further, and on the centre of the chest we see Bronze Zoo text in black arcing over a screen printed parrot and text referring to a specific area in Queens, NY. The funny thing is, there’s no zoo in the 11385 Queens area code, so what Bronze were getting at here we’re not so sure!
The Bronzish T-Shirt on the right, as you probably predicted, comes in 100% cotton, featuring short sleeves to improve breathability and freedom of movement and a ribbed neckline to enhance comfort. On the centre of the chest we see a screen printed graphic depicting a stereotypical chainlink bin, filled with multicoloured rubbish in a style reminiscent of a mosaic. Typically random – just how we like it!
We’ve also had some heavier layers arrive with the new collection. On the left above we have the Bronze Hardware Hoodie, which arrives in Black (there’s also a white/teal colourway that’ll be dropping, too). Made from 100% cotton, the hoodie features ribbed cuffs at the wrists and waist to ensure a snug and cosy fit, ideal for the rest of the cold weather. Storage is provided with a kangaroo pocket on the front, and the hood is adjustable via a drawstring. On the chest we see screen printed Bronze Hardware text with the latter being mirrored from the top, coming in a grey colour to keep things nice and subtle.
On the right above we have the Bronze Windbreaker in Blue, which will also be arriving black. It has been made using polyester, giving it a highly water-and-wind-resistant exterior and soft interior. Providing an adjustable fit is the drawcord at the waist, and the sleeves feature elasticated wrist cuffs to make things more streamlined. Two pockets are featured on the front providing useful storage, and a packable hood has been added too, improving the jacket’s functionality significantly. On the left of the chest we see Bronze text in that OG Bronze font and bright red colour, standing out from the jacket yet still nice and low-key.
No Bronze collection would be complete without a few hats, too. The first of the new arrivals is the Mirror Cap, coming in a colour that Bronze calls Putty (basically tan). The 100% brushed cotton twill hat features a very low-profile fit thanks to its unstructured style, and is adjustable at the back via a fabric strap and metal clasp. On the crown we see mirrored Bronze text embroidered in white, creating a bright and certainly Spring-infused hat overall. On the right above we have a hat more suited to the remainder of the winter – the Safari Cap, which arrives in Black. Again coming in 100% brushed cotton twill, the hat features a 5-panel construction with an additional cover falling from the back and sides, which will certainly keep your ears and neck warm. Breathability isn’t an issue, though, thanks to the mesh side panels, and the hat is adjustable via a a drawstring that fits nicely under the chin. It’s well suited to a New York winter, so a British one will be no match!
All of the items pictured above, and a few more pieces too, will be arriving as part of the Bronze 56K Spring ’17 collection. It is due to drop within days now, so keep an eye on our social media accounts (which you can find at the bottom of our website here) for more updates.
