By now we know what to expect from Saucony when it comes to collabs – detailed inspirations, premium materials, and even better colourways. The Boston natives have now worked with German sneaker specialists AFEW Store to produce a classy take on a new hybrid model, the Shadow Master 5000, and quite simply, they’ve smashed it.
AFEW looked close to home for the inspiration behind the shoe – Wolfgang Johann von Goethe, and the Goethe Museum which houses so much of his work, provided all the creative cues that AFEW needed to produce a stellar colourway with lovely fine details. Goethe is a revered poet the world over, and excerpts from some of his best work feature on the laces, heel and sockliners in a lovely script-style font.
The Goethe Museum inspires the overall colourway, with the contrasting salmon toebox and grey midfoot/heel directly referencing the juxtaposed colours of the museum’s exterior brickwork. Saucony’s three dots logos come in charcoal grey on the lateral side and salmon on the medial side, and the midsole sharpens everything to perfection, coming in a crisp white. Perfect finishing touches appear on the heel, where we see a debossed AFEW logo, and tongue, which sees a papercut silhouette of Goethe himself.
The upper is predominantly comprised of a plush Wolverine Silkee suede, a preferred material for Saucony. Perforations have been punched onto the toebox and around the heel for an enhanced premium vibe, and also on the tongue for greater breathability. The upper is that of the Master Control, a Saucony model we’ve not seen before here at Attitude, and the sole is from the iconic Shadow 5000. With said sole, you’re getting full EVA shock-absorbing cushioning throughout, and an aggressive traction pattern that offers great grip on any surface. Comfort is very much guaranteed.
The AFEW x Saucony Shadow Master 5000 “Goethe” is launching with us here at Attitude on the 28th October 2017. The shoes will be up for grabs via a raffle, which we will advertise on our Instagram page. Get those post notifications turned on, and be ready for one of the best (and very high demand) Saucony collabs of the year.
