The Samurai Pack is one of the highlights so far of AW16, with Diadora successfully taking the legends of Japanese history and producing a shoe every bit as intricate as the fighting styles of the warriors themselves. The darker of the two colourways is this Black version, which has a real delicate nature to it.
The upper of the shoe features a woven canvas-like base, which is very breathable and lightweight and works perfectly with the black leather overlays that wrap around the shoe to provide structure and a more premium style. Suede also makes an appearance, creating the formstripe logo on the lateral and medial sides of the shoe. Red details are present throughout, particularly on the midfoot where a detailed woven design is present, and also on the heel where a flower-like logo has been embroidered. The upper contrasts strongly against the solid white midsole, with red hits matching the upper nicely.
The midsole is cushioned by EVA foam, which provides excellent comfort under foot by reducing the impact of each step significantly (as can be expected from a retro runner). Also, the outsole features an agressive tread pattern that will guarantee great traction no matter what the surface, so this really is one of the most perfect shoes for the winter ahead.
