Dickies was founded in Bryan, a small town in Texas, with a focus on designing high quality workwear. Such was the high level of quality clothing it was producing, the American Government requested Dickies to make the uniforms for millions of Americans in the armed services for WWII. With a stamp of quality like that under its belt, Dickies was always going to become world famous.
The rugged quality of the clothing saw the brand, much like Carhartt, transcend the workwear industry and enter the mainstream skating industry. American teens and young adults wearing Dickies to skate ensured that its place in skating folklore was cemented, and it has remained in this position ever since, with the same hardwearing quality still very much present in all of its products.
