The Blazer Low is one of the most versatile silhouettes to ever arise from Nike's design labs, and became an instant classic when it released in 1972. A basketball favourite at first, the shoe has gradually transitioned away from the court and is now a staple inn the Nike SB range, and Grant Taylor's take on the iconic shoe has arrived for AW16 in a simple yet stylish Black/Black/Anthracite colourway.
The shoe does of course feature a full suede upper, incredibly durable in nature whilst also providing different shades of black at different points. Contrasting surprisingly strongly against the upper are the Swoosh logos, which also come in black but are made from leather, to provide a very deep and consistent colour. Black leather also appears at the top oof the heel where we see NIKE text in anthracite, and the tongue comes in a lightweight polyester, with minimal padding which doesn't sacrifice comfort but does make the shoe feel nicely streamlined. A black midsole and outsole rounds off this perfectly basic shoe nicely.
Inside the shoe, we see a Zoom Air unit in the heel of the sockliner, which provides some of Nike SB's most responsive cushioning to let you skate in comfort for longer. We also see a gusseted tongue design, which wraps around your foot to provide a more secure fit, always ideal for skating. The midsole features an extra textured rubber layer that wraps around its front, which maximises durability by reinforcing a very high abrasion area, and the herringbone traction pattern on the outsole provides great grip and boardfeel. An autoclave construction fuses the midsole and upper to enhance the streamlined feel of the shoe, and finally, the low-cut design of the shoe gives you total freedom of movement around the ankle.
