Saucony's most premium release since the instant-classic "Shrimp" GRID 8000, the "Desert" GRID 8000 channels the beauty of the summer sun and sand. In fact, to describe this shoe as premium, doesn't even do it a justice.
The upper consists of a wide variety of materials. Around the toebox we see a very pale suede and a darker perforated leather, providing significant breathability. Moving back to the midfoot, we see an even darker shade of nubuck, conveniently looking like the rolling dunes so often found in deserts. Saucony branding is kept tonal at the heel and on the tongue, to take nothing away from the very clean, minimal colourway. Offsetting the upper is a sharp white midsole, adding a nice pop to the shoe, and a gum outsole rounds it off very nicely.
The shoe features Saucony's Ground Reaction Inertia Device technology in the heel, more often known as GRID. This is a woven configuration of Hytrel filaments, which absorb and deflect force when the heel hits the ground when running, improving the shoe's comfort significantly. It's like a tennis racquet for your heel, appealing right?
We also have a host of other Saucony Originals styles, including the GRID 9000, GRID 8500, DXN Trainer, Shadow 6000 and Jazz Original.
