Saucony is tearing up trees like nobody else this year, and the latest in a string of premium releases is the "Quilt Pack". Featuring the Boston brand's signature high quality in terms of materials, execution and performance, the two GRID SDs in the pack really are quite special. First up we have a Grey/Tan colourway.
The base of the upper has been made using a light tan suede at the toebox and a darker grey suede around the midfoot and heel, featuring an all-over criss-cross stitching detail to provide a quilted appearance. Lighter grey suede forms a mudguard around the toe and Saucony's three dots logo on the lateral and medial sides, and a plain dark grey suede adds more support around the heel. Saucony text on the heel and tan mesh tongue come in a subtle grey, complementing the colourway nicely, and the midsole comes in off-white with a distinctive vintage feel to it.
The GRID acronym in the title of the shoe stands for Ground Reaction Inertia Device, technology that Saucony developed in the '90s to provide cushioning for its runners. The device is constructed fron woven Hytrel filaments, which absorb and deflect impact when the heel hits the ground. That, combined with the descending sole shape and EVA sockliner, makes the GRID SD one of the comfiest sneakers around.
We also have a host of other Saucony Originals styles, including the GRID 9000, GRID 8500, DXN Trainer, Shadow 6000, Shadow 5000 and Jazz Original.
