The most recent in a string of premium releases from Boston natives Saucony is the "Salmon" GRID 8000, which may look quite familiar to some of you. Taking cues from the insanely popular Shrimp & Scampi GRID 8000 that released last summer, this is one of the most summer-ready shoes we've seen so far this Spring.
The upper has been constructed from a variety of top-tier materials. The salmon portion on the toebox is a supple perforated leather, and that can also be found on the lateral and medial sides as well as on the heel. Forming a mudguard around the toebox is a super smooth suede in the same salmon colour, and salmon tumbled leather forms overlays around midfoot and heel. Juxtaposing all the aforementioned is the colour grey, which features as a tumbled leather to form Saucony's three dots logo, and a soft fabric material that forms the tongue. The lining comes in salmon pink, working well with the rest of the upper, and finally, Saucony branding appears on the tongue via a woven label, and via black text on the heel.
"GRID" in the title of the shoe is an acronym for Ground Reaction Intertia Device, Saucony's tech that consists of woven Hytrel filaments which deflect impact at the heel throughout the midsole to minimise the overall effects of each step. The sole visibly descends from a high point at the heel to a lower point at the toe, letting you roll off the board of your foot to provide a smoother walking sensation overall. You're even given an aggressive tread pattern on the outsole that ensures great traction on all surfaces.
We also have a host of other Saucony Originals styles, including the GRID 9000, GRID 8500, DXN Trainer, Shadow 6000, G9 Shadow and Jazz Original.
