The Three Stripes' Skateboarding division has returned for Spring '17, kicking on from where the exceptional Winter '16 collection left off. A host of our favourite styles, as well as some lesser seen ones, have arrived to provide the skateboarding performance and clean style we've been craving. The Campus, after a strong turn last year, comes in two colourways this season, the first being Burgundy/White/Gum.
The upper of the shoe has been made exclusively from suede, coming in a vivid burgundy colour with a very retro feel to it (and who does that better than adidas!). Sitting on top of the suede at the lateral and medial sides of the shoe are white leather hits that form adidas' signature Three Stripes, with the stripes on the former side also featuring parallel Campus text in a gold foil. The only other branding appears on the white leather heel, where we see a red embossed Trefoil logo and accompanying adidas text, and on the tongue where white adidas skateboarding branding appears. Complementing the subtle upper is a rich gum midsole and outsole, which further enhance the retro feel of the shoe to perfection.
The shoe performs just as good as it looks, too. A moulded PU sockliner sits in the footbed, providing exceptional cushioning and comfort under the whole of the foot, and board feel isn't sacrificed thanks to the sole being vulcanized (which also improves durability). Finally, the multi-directional herringbone traction pattern provides great grip when skating, and features pivot points to let you securely adjust your foot placement to land those difficult tricks.
