Marc Johnson, pro global skateboarder for adidas Skateboarding, is next up to receive a signature colourway on the ever-popular Matchcourt Mid. Paying homage to his home state via the colours of the University of North Carolina, this is simply perfect for those summer skate sessions.
The upper of the shoe has been constructed using a lovely light blue pig nubuck, even more premium than the high quality suede adidas normally utilises. It provides a nice and bright colour that works perfectly with adidas' white Three Stripes on the lateral and medial sides, as well as the white toecap, midsole and laces. Gold foil text remains on the lateral side, MJ being the chosen letters this time around, and the tongue comes half in mesh and half in suede, but all in blue. The crowning detail is the white outsole, the perfect colour because of the maximal vibe it creates for the shoe overall.
There's more to the shoe than just a brilliant colourway, though. A moulded PU sockliner sits in the bed of the shoe, providing the impact-reducing protection needed for long skate sessions, and the sole is vulcanized to maximise both boardfeel and durability. The signature Matchcourt toecap enhances durability, too, by reinforcing a very high-abrasion area, and finally, a Vector Traction outsole pattern guarantees great grip.
