Saucony is tearing up trees like nobody else this year, and the latest in a string of premium releases is the "Quilt Pack". Featuring the Boston brand's signature high quality in terms of materials, execution and performance, the two GRID SDs in the pack really are quite special. Secondly we have a flipped Tan/Grey colourway.
The base of the upper is a light grey suede on the toebox and a darker tan suede around the midfoot and heel, featuring an all-over criss-cross stitching detail to provide a quilted appearance. A lighter tan suede features around the toe forming a clean mudguard, and also on the lateral and medial sides, forming Saucony's ever-present three dots logo. A dark grey suede features on the heel, providing a nice backdrop for tan embroidered Saucony text, and the same text also features on the top of the light grey mesh tongue. All that sits atop a retro-styled off-white midsole, and an off-white/gum outsole, all working to provide a very classic vibe.
The GRID acronym in the title of the shoe stands for Ground Reaction Inertia Device, technology that Saucony developed in the '90s to provide cushioning for its runners. The device is constructed fron woven Hytrel filaments, which absorb and deflect impact when the heel hits the ground. That, combined with the descending sole shape and EVA sockliner, makes the GRID SD one of the comfiest sneakers around.
We also have a host of other Saucony Originals styles, including the GRID 9000, GRID 8500, DXN Trainer, Shadow 6000, Shadow 5000 and Jazz Original.
